I see a swirly rock.I think it was formed by water

Hey Everyone, use your Fossil Sequence homework to explain how a fossil is formed!
Tiffany

I see gray specks on the fossil. It was formed when the shell turned to stone. It is a fossil now.

I see a curved sea shell that's orange. I think was formed by water and wind.

Mathew good job!

I think it was formed by water and wind.

It was probably formed by sinking to the bottom of the sea, made an imprint then was discovered.

Aidan is right!

Now that I think about it I never thought of that.?

The fossil looks red and a bit gray. It looks about 3 cm long and 3 cm high. I think it was a rock and the rushing water made pieces of it break off. It could be one of those swirly shells, though.
Mason

Cambry, it does look about 3cm.
Abby
2/20/2014 05:16:07 am
I think at one time it was a snail's shell.
Mason

When I look at the picture I see orange and gray specs. I think they were formed by minerals. It looks like a shell to me so it was probably preserve in water.
David

That's good enough Mason!!!!!
Cambry
2/20/2014 07:57:11 am
Yes Mason, it does also look like a shell. You did a really good job! I like it when you said that they looked like they were formed by minerals.

It looks like a shell to me too, Mason

I see orange with a little bit of red. It is formed by water.

I see something that looks hard,is orange in color, has dirt on it,and has a pattern of a swirl. The size is small only one cm. A fossil is formed over a long time. The animal dies and decays and then is covered in silt or in mud. After time the bones turn into stone.
Yosbani

First, the animal dies and the skeletons soft parts wares away. Then, the skeleton gets mud on its self and continues to get more mud on its self. Next, the animals skeleton turns into minerals of rock. Finally the animals skeleton turns into a fossil and gets found.

And I forgot that the cast or shell was pink, red, black, and blue

I also see grey specs on the shell that I think is dust.I think think this shell was formed by getting buried and turning into stone. A fossil can be made when a animal dies and gets buried then the soft parts wore away then minerals go inside the bones and turn it into a fossil and air and wind expose it.
Christian

Do you know what I think those gray spots are?
Christian
2/20/2014 06:34:42 am
I see a dull shell with a swirl that is orange and gray. This shell was formed by wind and water.
David

I see mold and a cast. A fossil is formed when a plant or animal dies. Hundreds of years later weathering covers it with mud and dirt. Soon the dead animal becomes all bones and rises to the surface.

I saw a shell with stone on it I think it was formed many years back. How fossils are formed: A animal is alive and swimming in the sea. The animal dies and sinks to the bottom of the sea. The soft parts rot away. The animal bones are left on the sea floor. The skeleton of the animal is buried in the mud on the sea floor. Over a very long time more and more mud is piled on the animal. Over a very long time, the animal's bones are slowly replaced with stone. The animal becomes a fossil. The fossil is discovered!

It looks like a shell from a ocean. It looks like a shell thats old
austin

Its made by rock, leaves, shells, or even dead animals. Slowly the bone is replaced by stone. When the water is not there anymore the bone can be shown.

1. I see a fossil shaped as a shell. 2. 1. A fossil is made when something that lived a long time ago lays on the ground for a long time like a DINOSAUR. 2. The soft parts like the skin decomposes into the ground. 3. Then more and more layers of soil pile on it. 4. Then soil hardens, wind and water washes away soil that didn't harden, and the fossil is exposed. Comments are closed.
